Hey, I'm back after a bit and looking to revive my cabbing setup. When I last left it, my wheels have gone bare. I got the go-ahead for a set. Time to dust the machine off and make some cabs! Here are my options: - Set of 8" Nova wheels. Can't go wrong with them. Cost prohibitive because I have another mouth to feed in the house(the reason for my long absence from the board) -A set of wheels from Exolite. Link here They are USA made, and Exolite is the only place I can find them. I asked and they are available in 8" for roughly the same price as the budget Kingsley North wheels (imported). -A set of the wheels from Johnson Brothers. Link here They make them in house as far as I know. I don't like how they appear to be undercutting Diamond Pacific (In Barstow no less, seems fishy), but they are USA made and priced reasonably, especially if I can mix and match for a discount. Has anyone used the Exolite or Johnson Bros wheels? I'd like to know experiences as far as durability, softness, smoothness, etc. Opinions? Before I lay down a bunch of money, I want to know what I'm getting. Its between the two. I prefer USA made wheels over the import wheels, so Kingsley North, Covington etc are out. Its a personal preference. Too bad because I they are my go-to supply places. Steve

If the Eloxite wheel are the CabKing wheels they are Chinese as well. What is your budget? The CabKing wheels (soft wheels) last maybe 3-4 times less than Diamond Pacific so remember "value" not just cost. I believe Johnson Brother production is on hold.

you may want to check this post I started last year about Johnson Brothers before you go that route. Coming up with money for new wheels is tough but I am guessing you could complete 500-600 cabs with a set of galaxy/nova wheels which puts the cost at $1 per cab. That's for 6" wheels though. I would like to know how many cabs can really be done on a set of wheels but each person uses/abuses them differently so there may not be a good answer. here's the link forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/57773/johnson-brothers-lapidary?page=1&scrollTo=643810Chuck
