Once LOS is mixed with water does it keep on the shelf and for how long in your experience? I mixed up a batch in a jar of water, used it once with great results then tried to use it again a week later and it didn't get the piece very much darker at all.

I've used it a week or so later with good results, but it needs to be at a pretty warm temp. I would not advise heating a batch in the house:-0

I usually only mix what I need and pour it out, but you can save it with a lid. As the color goes milky it loses potency. Like Radio says the warmer the better, especially when it is weak.

I mixed a batch at double strength, 2 tsp? in about 10oz of water. I have been using the same batch for 20 days. As of last night it is still working very well. I have used it on 50-60 wraps total. I keep it and use it in a mason jar with an airtight lid. Also, I have never remembered to heat it any. I keep it stored in a box in the garage, so it has actually been well below room temperature...

What form is the LOS in? I use the chunks and and only add 1 piece a bit smaller than a Pea to about 6-8 ounces of hot water and it is very yellow and VERY smelly! It will turn a ring or pendant totally black in under a minute
