For a Newbie, that's a nice tumble. You obviously took the necessary time in the early stages to get the shape and remove all the pits and fractures. Here's s few things you can try to improve the shine on future loads.
If you are jumping from 500F to Polish, you may want to try an additional stage of 1000F. Some kits include 1000F and label it "pre-polish".
If you are not using plastic pellets (rotary) or ceramic pellets (vibe) you may want to include them. They act as a cushion and grit/polish carriers. Delicate material is better bouncing ceramic media than bouncing off another rock.
If you are not burnishing between loads, try it. There are many posts on this.
Good luck. Nice dog. I'm not sure how you got that photo without getting nostril steam on your camera lens.
Darryl.

the grits weren't labled to specifics, just basic 4 steps I did use pellets, but all I had was air gun pellets I thought they would work, as far as burnishing between steps, I just put in a tbl spoon of borax in with loads.... not separate....so no real washing......PS im using a 3 lb rotary and yes my dogs great, that was just a good pic before she tried to eat the camera lol

That is a really interesting rock. Pit free and nice shine. I'm sure your Dad will like it.
