Finally cut a slab from some of that serpentine I collected. To me it looks like these pics are of a rough piece, but trust me this is a flat slab on both sides! Just an illusion from the patterns. I see a large serpent or dinosaur eye being cabbed from the first pic cuz that looks like a reptile iris right in the middle to me! ~Roland

Fine serpentine. That yellow green color is common in serpentine from the mountains of north Georgia.

Cool Serp. I find a ton of serp in the river out behind my house and they all look very different and have some neat patterns. Our serp up here tends to be pretty hard as far as serps go, how hard is that one? I do like that serpent eye stripe down the middleof the first one, looking forward to seeing a finished cab of that.

That is crazy, as you say it doesn't look flat at all!

That is crazy, as you say it doesn't look flat at all! ditto on that. Great optical illusion as it appears that there is no way it is flat. Nice stuff!

This piece is relatively soft. I think, in general from the variety at the location that I hunted, the lighter the color of the serpentine the softer it is. The darker green to black is much harder and much shinier. If I was creative enough, I would make a large leather book binding with a wrinkled eye socket and put a huge polished eyeball made with this slab in it.... muwahahahaha!!! ~Roland
