We went to the Stoddard Wells Tailgate show in Victorville, CA today. Weather was perfect, 70 with light breeze. If you haven't been to this show before, it's held out in the middle of the Mojave desert. Perfect location. Ran into Dan, aka Fish from the board. He was selling rocks and stuff to help feed his habit so he could buy more. Dan is one heck of a nice guy in person. ![](http://www.outbackteardrop.com/rock/584.jpg) ![](http://www.outbackteardrop.com/rock/585.jpg) ![](http://www.outbackteardrop.com/rock/586.jpg) Ran into John & Susana Wease of JSGems. ![](http://www.outbackteardrop.com/rock/587.jpg) And here is the crew of Christopher Anthony Jewelry. Bottom right CEO Joshua, bottom left president Noah and Christopher & Lori in the back are the display set up crew. ![](http://www.outbackteardrop.com/rock/588.jpg) ![](http://www.outbackteardrop.com/rock/589.jpg) 4 year old Joshua even had his own table set up. May just out sell mom & dad! Noah was busy grinding fresh cabs on a Pixie grinder, building up inventory. ![](http://www.outbackteardrop.com/rock/590.jpg) The site is pretty remote. Sure was lots of fun. Seemed to have more vendors. They carry everything you need. We like this show better than Quartzsite. ![](http://www.outbackteardrop.com/rock/591.jpg)

Nice report Larry. Sorry I missed you. Work went long (but that was due to great sales happening) so I came back down the mountain without making the tailgate.
One of my clients today is a member of VVGMS but her hubby died and she cannot make the tailgate. I am hoping for an opportunity Sunday AM to pick her up and come by for an hour or so.
Dang, to bad so sad, I wasn't there.

Very cool! Stoddard has definitely gotten a lot bigger than I remember. That was always one of my favorite shows and I'm glad it's still going strong.....Mel

Yup, I'm with Mel. I remember Stoddard when it was just a couple dozen rockhounds meeting in the desert to swap rocks and lies. My last couple of years in California I wasn't able to make it out there. but it was already starting to grow into what it is now. Somewhere in all of my junk I may still have some B&W pics I took in the "good ol' days".

Thanks for the report, Larry. Jean

We had another grand time out there this year. No rattle snakes this year only a few gofer snakes. Noah and Joshua always have fun seeing all there old friends and meeting new ones. I enjoyed getting the chance to meet Fish and got to see Scott again, if only for a few minutes. Always a pleasure spending time visiting Larry and Diane, missed Goober this year. Great seeing Susan out there too. Stoddard Wells is really turning into a mini Quartzsite. I hope more of you make it out next year.

I can't believe I missed this... I may have been out digging in Mule Canyon that weekend. Looks like it was a great time for everyone. Maybe next year.
I'm in Dan's club, Searchers.
