I'm about to buy more jeweler's saw blades from Rio Grande. I've used about 4 of the first batch of 12 4/0 Laser Gold blades that I bought last year. I'm looking at sharing a pack of 144 of the cheaper blades that Rio sells.
Does anybody have any experience with them? They have 2 different brands. $10.95 for 144 from India & $18.95 for 144 of Rio's own brand. Is it worth it to save money, or would I be wasting my time with poor quality? Lynn

Started out using Indian saw blades and kept breaking blades. My teacher at the time recommended using Swiss or German made blades and the troubles went way down. Do not know about the Rio brand, but would definitely stay away from the India made blades.

The cheap by the gross blades are considered student blades because when first learning to use a saw you will break blades all the time. Once I switched to the Swiss and German blades I never questioned the cost again. They are more expensive but worth every penny in my opinion. But I did start with the cheaper blades and still use them with new students when teaching.
Just my $0.02 Tom

I just found some Pike brand 3/0 Swiss blades on eBay for $18 for 144. The reviews elsewhere were good. I'm going to give them a try. Lynn

If your are working mostly with 24 ga. then the 3/0 blades may be a little to coarse. Don
