Iris Virginica-a swamp Iris that is native to SE US. The beds. Iris are green all year. Digging the rhizomes Washing them Planting them in 6 inch pots Wifeboss planting too. She asked me where to plant. I said over there. She started walking the other way. I asked her where she was going. She said to plant these. I suggested she watch my finger(me pointing). Needless to say, she was not to interested in watching my finger. And suggested i watch her(select) finger. hmmmm, bad move James Oh well, another day in the life.

LOL! Which finger was that, James? So are these the iris you sent me a few little bitty ones of?
Dang, that reminds me, I have to replant some Mr. Stripey heirloom tomatoes in individual pots. I wasn't sure how well they were going to germinate, so I just planted a butt load of seeds in a six inch pot. The seedlings look pretty vigorous, the fruit the seeds came from last year were delicious! They look like this:
Thanks a lot, James.

It is just a swamp Iris. It is also variable in color and size Jean. Can get 6-7 feet tall depending on variety. They have hybridized to darker blues and then white on the other end. Easy to grow and often used to take in water pollution it mitigation sites. Heirlooms are tough buggars and often bug resistant. Bigger and Better Boy are the most common here. But heirlooms are coming on strong. Have had Stipeys. A guy in Atlanta sells about a dozen heirlooms. Some of them are real sweet. yum

And she has lots of fruit trees. Some have it really good. Yes, but James, I have to pay the price to live here! Gas and electric, water, trash, property taxes, homeowners insurance. Gas is almost $4 per gallon, and that's for the cheapest grade!
The tradeoff is all the free sunshine (actually, they call the high cost of living the "sunshine tax," lol), warm temps, beach if you care to go (did that every day during the summer growing up. The beach belongs to the bums and tourists, now ), picking oranges, tangerines and grapefruit off the trees as needed. Lemons and limes. With all that's recently been going on, I didn't get a chance to prune the fig tree. Too late now, it's just going to be loaded up with fruit is all. Ditto putting fertilizer on the citrus and avocado when it was raining. I gotta fertilize soon, and pay for the water I put on now.
Okay, I'll quit whining...

Managing that compound will melt the winter lard off you, lol! Yeah, best keep that Ibu bottle handy. I think that amount of property is more than I would care to handle, James. You could probably call it a plantation. Think I'll keep my little, tiny piece of land. It's big enough for a 10 X 20 foot garden and citrus and fruit trees and an avocado tree, that'll do it for me. And it's not so darn hot, sticky and buggy!

I do get to drive to work on the ATV every day.

I just had half an avocado on my fish taco tonight, yum! There are so many of them, that I end up throwing lots of them away when they all start getting ripe at the same time. Need to put them in the fridge once they start to soften, give them a few more days... and then throw them out! James, you were right about calories in them, much more than I need to eat.
Right now I am going through the PMs we were sending back and forth concerning care of the sarracenias. I figured it would help Pat get caught up with the experiment. I am editing out any unnecessary comments, and will send the info to her shortly.

That will work. Scott had some photos too. She should get a good batch of info out of that. I am glad that you are still eating avocados. And bragging about it. ha. I would do the same.
