Nice day today- tomorrow it will be winter again. For those of you who don't know... I had been cabbing my girdles with a 90 degree edge because that is how I like them for wire wrapping. But, now that I am bezel setting Ii put a slant on the girdle. Today was the first time I did it. I started with the feather agate and shouldn't have. By the time I was finished, I had the moves down- so, all my cabs from here out will have a slanted girdle. Got some quickie pics. Mooka Sonora sodalite oj lattice agate flame agate bloodstone red pet wood Sonora outback jasper feather agate Indian paint stone

Beautiful cabs Tela! I'm digging on the red-pet wood and the last one especially ... reminds me of a camo pattern.

They are all outstanding, I couldn't pick just 1 so i'll choose two: The Mooka & the flame.

Well done. This dovetails to a question I posted on another thread about girdles. I would enjoy seeing a few pics of the different girdles that you have done. I am still trying to figure out how I should finish the ones I am working on. Again, good lookin' stones.

WOW12th Power!
The shapes are so sharply defined!
I’m real interested in the red pet wood shape. Do you have name for that shape? Its kind of like a candle flame.
The mook is haunting. A thin palm in a ray of sunlight
The lattice agate is fine material
A great collection of polished stones

Its hard to tell without a true end view shot but I assume for smithing that the bottom is the largest dimension then a slight slant inward up to the dome so that you can bend the bezel wire against the stone to lock it in?
This is a great bunch of cabs but I have never cabbed Sonora and yours sure makes me want to get a piece to try.

Beautiful cabs!
The mooka reminds me of a lone palm in a desert oasis.
And the OJ made me say Ohhhh Jeez that's awesome!

Your cabs are always so gorgeous. I usually have a hard time picking a favorite, this time was easy that lattice is stunning - it looks like frost patterns on a window! Everything else tyed for 2nd place

Thanks everyone! It was sure nice to spend the day doing this. Looks like maybe Sat I can do some more. mohs I drew that shape myself and cut a template for it. Flame sounds good. I think I'll keep it. I had been calling it a pendulum. DirtCleaner I'll try and get pictures for you later. It'll be tricky, I think to show the slight slant. But, I'll try. Drummond Island Rocks Yes, you are right. I can wrap either, but I like the straight sides. Sonora can be a challenge to cut. Everyone I have done- and I have done a lot- have been different. All are soft and easy to unercut. Some are harder to polish than others. I've had a couple that polished beautifully, though. It's fun because it is challenging- but it is getting really expensive, so it makes me nervous. Wear a mask!

Hey Tela, They're all really, really nice. The pattern I like the best is the feather agate. Where does it come from? I also cut my girdles straight up and down for my wirewrapping. Works best for me. Keep 'em coming..... Deb

Oh wow Tela - you are such a pro! Each cab was gorgeous in it's own way, I can't believe how many materials and shapes you can make look so perfect. Thank you for sharing in so many ways that make cabbing an art form!

Each of them is beautiful and perfect beyond words, but the delicate flower pattern in the mookaite makes the difference to me.
