Man, I screwed this thank you all up! Got Jean's handle wrong and typed the wrong mineral! OK I think it is all fixed now! I PM'd Jean this week to say hi and she said she'd found a book that made her think of me, so she asked for my address. I gratefully obliged and today when I came home there was a MFRB sitting here with my name on it. She'd let me know ahead of time it was coming and intimated that there might be something of a vegetable nature in it. I was excited, but given my personal experience with shipping USPS expected a book covered in guacamole inside the box. I was very pleasantly surprised to find not only the book and the avocados, but also a nice collection of rocks all nicely, carefully wrapped, packed and labeled - and fully intact. In retrospect I should have immediately gone and bought a lottery ticket. Seriously it was the nicest packing I've seen. Anyhow, here is a photo of all the great stuff she sent me! From the left, clockwise: - stromatolite - coral - possible chapenite - another possible chapenite - fossilized t-rex testicle - another fossilized teste - 4 agates and in the center some great reading material I am anxious to pore over! rockpickerforever thank you SO MUCH this was awesome. My dad went into the hospital this week, and today we found that he is not doing better and will be there for a while. He's having psychological/psychotic issues, his health is always bad but this is the worst mentally we've seen him, so this was a nice reprieve from a heavy week. Meanwhile Jean is mourning the loss of her own mother and just wanted to be nice to someone else for no other reason than she's just that kind of person. Folks, we are among some of the best folks in the world.

Jean is truly jeanerous. I want to send her a giant fossilized coral-like a motor freighter. I do have a cool one set aside for her. But it needs to be bigger, hmmmm.
I have a Gem Trail book for Texas John. It was an oldie. Served me well. But people do not publish as many 'where to hunt' books anymore. Bet that will come in handy.

You're welcome, John. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family, while having to take care of your dad. It can really be draining.
Thanks, everyone. I enjoy being nice to nice people that deserve it. We have a great bunch of people here! John, I think I know why Cathy talkingstones was confused. Did you figure it out? (You tagged her, instead of me, lol!)
Either I wrote the wrong thing down, or you could not decipher my handwriting - which is totally possible. I think those two pinkish/orangish chunks I sent you were "possible chapenite," not carrisite. Cut one of 'em open, see what it looks like inside. I slabbed another one that I had, and that's what it looked like to me.
Just to show you how I put things off, I picked up that Colorado Gem Trails book way back in September for John. Just now got around to getting it to him. Even though he didn't know anything about it, all the extras were him having to wait! John, I hope you enjoy it. I looked like a pretty good book, despite being about 49 years old!
Ah, I've made a deposit to my RocKarma!! Can never have too much good karma...

WTG Jean, definitely a deposit to your RocKarma. John, sorry to hear about your father, hope things get better soon. I agree with you that Jean is "just that kind of person" but if you tell her I said that I'll deny everything

Lol!!! No worries, John! Wasn't quite sure what was going on but figured it might be button confusion, lol!!! I'm always around though, if not commenting if you need anything. Hope everything is okay and keeping you in thoughts and prayers! Difficult time to go through!!!!

Rocks, avocados, and a good book! A package doesn't get much better than that! Just want to say that there are folks on here that truly inspire kindness and selflessness. Sadly we don't see this everywhere these days. I'm really glad to have stumbled on to such a great group of people. Thanks for keeping my faith in humanity going!
