Those prizes are really cool. Thank you for having this contest. I think that everyone that has a chance to participate is a winner. It really gave us some good material to work with.
Thanks again.

Nice prizes ... can't wait to see who wins. Myself, I'm already a winner. Got some material I might never of seen otherwise and a whole bunch of new rocks to go in my favorites. If it's up to a vote on the top ten pics ... I'm leaning toward a single shot of all ten.

Cool prizes, Roy. I kept looking at the fern slab trying to find the fern. I finally looked up "tempskya petrified fern" and found that it's actually a slab from the trunk of a tree fern. That explains why I couldn't see a fern leaf in the slab. Tempskya FernI really like the geode and who couldn't use some more grit? Thanks John! As has been said many times before, we're all winners of a great box of rocks.

Some great looking prizes there roy. Win lose or draw this has been a real fun 10 weeks. Thanks. just finished my 1000 stage and things look real promising. These are the "canary in the mine" cabs I have kept going with the contest rocks. I figure the tiger eye is very reliable tumble and I know what to expect so I have used those as a gauge for when each stage is done. anyway here's the test cabs after 1000 grit If you go back a few posts you can see what these looked like after 500 to compare. thanks for looking Chuck

Well shoot. There go any hopes of first place. That's an amazing picture of some amazing cabs. Wow. Just keeping you on your toes Rob. I think there are going to be some amazing pictures posted. I am bummed because I'll be on vacation (without internet) the whole week after the contest pics are posted so I may not see them for a whole week. Chuck

You knocked me right off of my toes. Are you going to be on Drummond Island that week? Is there no Internet there?

You knocked me right off of my toes. Are you going to be on Drummond Island that week? Is there no Internet there? There are a couple of restaurants with SLOW wi-fi so I'll try to at least get a peek at the pictures. We barely get cell phone services and no 4G. Chuck

getting excited ..... I just pulled one of my rocks out to check the progress of the polish. This is one that has some pesky cracks so I know its not a top 10 finalist but it sure does shine up nicely and it appears teh batch is doing just fine. I'll start trying to figure out how to best photograph a group of ten rocks tomorrow. Chuck

Incredible shine Chuck. You have a killer batch running. I'm taking mine out of the final polish tomorrow and start the burnish.

Nice lookin' piece there Chuck.
Rinsed the polish off mine today and am running the borax burnish. Got some beauties, but lost a couple potential entrants. Two pieces of nice jasper developed some pitting in the polish run. There were no pits coming out of the pre-polish, so I'm a little stumped on how they showed up. One piece of petwood also developed grooves along the grain lines that weren't there going in, another head scratcher. It might still look cool after the burnish though.
Good luck everyone. We are down to the wire!

We are down to the wire! I ran into the same dang problems with some green and tan jaspers I planned on using that were looking great earlier. I swear this batch looked better to me after three days in 1000 (vibe) then they do now that they are out of polish and burnish. Oh well. It's been fun and I am looking forward to seeing everyone's photos. Good luck to all! Chuck

Hey everyone!!!...I was going to say 2 pics of five would be good...But then I think just one would be the fairest way to go...It will be the coup de grĂ¢ce pic of pics... ....I would also suggest to take the pic in different lighting to see which one gives the optimal WOW factor.....Let me know what Ya'll think...John Hey John. I assume we need to send our contest photo to you right? And I was also wondering if you want a certain size like 1600x1200 or 1280x960 ? I have been driving myself nuts trying to get the best photo so I need to just give up and send something to end the madness. Thanks Chuck

So I just want to make sure I do not screw this up. We need to take a picture of our 10 best rocks in any size, then send the picture to John. It is as simple as that.
Did we decide on doing a side contest of our single best rock? I wouldn't mind getting in on that.
Thanks, Jon

Washed this morning before work and will burnish this evening. Like some of the others, one of my contenders has failed to produce the desired shine. Here is a picture after initial stage in the vibe when I decided that it needed to be cut in half. I thought it might be Saginite sprays around red agate center. After the polish stage everything has a high shine EXCEPT for the sprays. (Sorry no picture of this). They appear dull and etched. Any advice?
