Went to the Gem/Mineral show in Rome, GA today...had a good time and picked up a few slabs. Will post pics tomorrow in daylight. Anyway 18 total vendors and about 4 that had slabs. One vendor was charging a flat rate of .25/gram for all slabs. Some ruby in fuschite, nice flame agate, various jaspers...but not real high end. I had one 93 gram slab about 4 x 3 inches would have been $23. So he is getting $113.50 lb for slabbed material. WOW! Don't think he will sell much.

I hate to buy from venders that sell common slabs and rough by the gram. Opals and Rubys and other like that OK but not cutting rough.

Went to a show in Commiefornia with pricing like that one time. Little slab of Morgan Hill poppy was like $25 at 454 grams per pound and per gram pricing. Ridiculous!....Mel

You see these guys around at various shows. I remember seeing one fella selling picasso marble by the gram, I couldn't help but laugh. If I'm going to pay a per gram price, it better be exceptional material.
