very cool I thought star a rock star you are what type of polishing? that already looks like a nice shine Ed Thanks Ed! I was shooting for a flower! lol It's onyx and translucent. I'm thinking of fixing a light source behind it. I might put a different type of stone in the middle for some contrast and so you can tell it's a flower. lol My photography isn't all that good. It has a little shine on it, but I'm trying to teach myself the carving arts, so I'd like to try for a glossier shine.

I thought star too...starfish anyway nice job Thanks Wireholic! I thought it resembled a starfish too. I like the 6 petals, but I might need to nix them next time because of the starfish resemblance. lol

Very good start to a long journey. How are you going to polish? Material is quite soft, so a high gloss is likely a futile attempt. If you are sanding with Paper, you can skip several steps and go from 600 grid straight to 1500 or 2000. If you got 3 or 5000 paper, thats pretty much as high a gloss you will get.

It's pretty either way
