I made a few cabs today between Easter festivities. Tiffany Stone - I was very pleased with this one. It had variable hardnesses, but I managed to get a nice polish on it. Dinosar Bone - I cabbed this mainly to see if I could. It is from a scrap piece of bone from a larger piece I was facing. It has a mix of hardness's like the others in this set. It was going to be a "throw-away" cab, but I kind of like the thing lol. Cherry Creek Jasper - This material is going to make me buy a dedicated polishing rig. For the life of me, I cannot get the "wet" shine on this cab, and it really wants that shine! I spent a lonnggg time on my 8000# wheel but couldn't get more than what you see. When this cab is wet, it is outstanding. It is very frustrating to "finish" the stone, then when it is dry, watching the colors become so dull. Roger

Mixed hardness is my nightmare when it comes to cabbing, but you got fantastic results on all these difficult stones.

I've never been able to solve the liquid finish on Cherry Creek either. I've tried several polishes all with about the same result as a diamond wheel. Nice set.

I don't believe Cherry Creek is jasper. It seems much more porous to me. I bought a couple of slabs from a show dealer who said his polishing trick is to paint it with Hot Stuff on a warm day outdoors so it will penetrate a little into the stone. I haven't had a chance to try that myself yet and I'm still a member of the "no liquid finish" club. I'm going to try it soon with both Cherry Creek and Indian Paint Rock preforms.
I like your cabs a lot. The dinny bone cab might not appeal to some people but anyone who knows what it is and how it formed should appreciate it.
