Has anyone ever wire wrapped a hat band? I've made a few but if they get taken on and off the hat too many times, the crown piece starts shifting. I'm looking for a way to stabilize it without sewing the wire work onto a backing.

I've never done one but I'd sure like to know what one looks like. Can you post a photo?

I've never done one so not much help here either. Don't know how that would work but maybe someone on here will. Let us know when you get it figured out.

Karen, I've been trying to see if I can help you out here. I could not get your pic to load, or even a link to the pic to work. Hmmmm....
Just got this message on flickr:
"Bad, bad panda! Come on. We want photos. We’re aware of the problem and are fixing it. Thanks for your patience."
So maybe it is them and not you? I have also written this message several times now, and when I hit post, I lose it. Get the blue bear thingy. Something is not right somewhere.
I use Photobucket, so not sure how flickr works. But when I went to your page, and tried to get the HTML or BBCode, I got a message saying "Sharing is restricted for this photo." Maybe it is locked (private?) and needs to be unlocked before you can get the URL? I don't know.
Check your settings, and if that doesn't take care of the problem, give it some time to see if their problem resolves. Jean

Very nice piece of work, Karen!

Flickr doesn't like users to direct link to photos outside of their website so you have to do some monkeying around to get it. when you preview the photo on flickr there is a ... button on the right of the screen. click on that and then click on the option to download/view all sizes. once you're on the page that shows all the size options you can select the one you want and then right click and copy the link location. Then you can post the link here with the images tag.

Ah, thanks, Don. I got it now. I had found where to download/view all sizes, but was checking properties after I downloaded. Don't have to do that. Thanks! (But I'll STILL keep using Photobucket, lol. So much easier, and I'm not breaking any of their posting rules.)

I think I'll have to get a photobucket account. I only started with Flickr because I was supposed to be able to set up a private album for my mom to see pics of her great grandkids. She could never get into it either Deb gave me some tips so lets see if this works: url=https://flic.kr/p/njAgLg] [/url] hat 1 by dazy62, on Flickr

Hey, Karen, I almost put that one up for you as well, but wasn't sure if that was the second one you were trying to get. Looks like there are still a few extra garbage characters, but at least you got it to work!
I used to have one off-white Stetson, with one hatband (band of pheasant feathers) that stayed on it all the time. I wondered why anybody would take the band off? I guess so they can accessorize with other things?
Anyway(s), switch to Photobucket. IMHO, it is so much easier!

Yeah!! That hat band was made for a friend when she was elected Dist President of our American Legion Auxiliary. She wanted the Auxiliary emblem on her hat & a western flair so I did big chain links all around. The silver one was coiled and wrapped around some stabilized turquoise beads with a braided silver band. Wish I could have used some good rocks but that's what the customer wanted. This time, I've been asked to do something like a lotus blossom. I've already trashed 2 attempts..working on #3

The copper needed to be cleaned and she used to switch it from one hat to another, she had 4-5 different colors I had to fix the band several times

I'm looking for a way to stabilize it without sewing the wire work onto a backing. I wonder if you could use little pieces of velcro, where you could have the soft fuzzy side on the hat (it comes with adhesive) and simply roll the hook part on the frame of the wire work, and maybe let it attach in two places. That should keep it from shifting?

Those are really very nice!!! I'm not in cowboy hat land and I don't know the proper use of them, but I'm wondering if you could leave a small open circle at the top and use a tack pin to keep it in place. Don't know if pinning would be acceptable, though. But, a little round tack pin could easily be worked into the design of it. Wish I could do a sketch of what I mean.
