The wife and I spent the last weekend in Holbrook, Arizona, rockhounding with some friends. We stopped off at Jim Gray's Petrified Wood to have a look around. We had already collected our fill of Pet Wood so I decided to pick up a few geodes. The pile I grabbed these from was labeled Old Mexican geodes. Most were solid, nice light blue banded agate, but one just made my day. I love unexpected finds like this Geode with crystal inside by Earth n Stuff, on Flickr I am not entirely sure what kind of crystal it is yet, I highly suspect it is calcite, though I don't recognize the crystal habit. The main crystal is super clear and about 3/4 of an inch long, and the smaller ones are included and brownish, all are nicely formed. The agate itself is a lot bluer looking in person, the flash kind of washed it out. I love surprises like this! What if I had cut it the other direction or further towards that side, thankfully we will never know. I may do a trip write up to show off some of our finds, once I get a little more time.

That's quite the pearl you've got in that rock oyster! Very nice, I've never seen anything like that!

I'll venture that it is calcite, too.
This is a Dugway geode, one of several given to me by Barclay.
Like yours, I lucked out with the orientation when cutting it. Nice find, and a choice cut!

Great looking geode. I've been doing a lot of geode collecting of late. I even bought a display case to store the geodes. My wife and I visited Jim Gray's place in Holbrook last summer. Wish I was into geodes at the time. The only way I get my geodes is on Ebay. Every weekend I go to Knott's Berry Farm's Geode shop and have one cut. They charge $10 a cut.

Awesome find. Congrats! Paul @ Bill - go to Nevada Mineral and Book up in Tustin. I pickup my geodes from Walt (the proprietor). Good prices - competitive. If you don't have a saw, swing by. We cab have a Coke and power up mine and do some cutting. The cost of using my saws is the pleasure of your company and some sodas.

This is a photo of Cholla Geode that a friend of mine in Chihuahua just got. I've seen plenty of doubles but very few that have been fused together like this one.
