Hiya sealdaddy, and welcome. Perhaps if your question were less cryptic. . . you may be referring to getting jade too hot whilst working it? I have not worked with jade, so would not know. Stick around, it is a lively place. . . just ebbs and flows if you get my drift. . .

Jade-cutting hasn't been much of a topic here recently Sealdaddy. Welcome, I think you'll like it here. Most posts involve agates, jaspers, obsidian, fossils and a few others. But with you and Frank both over here I have a hunch the topic will come up more often. I used to cut Wyoming nephrite, mostly green and black. I think you're referring to dry-sanding which gets it very hot. Next time I dop some up I think I'll try Dick Friesen's method with a wood lap and Rapid Polish 61: juxtamorph.com/polishing-jade/
