As the title states this is my firt try at wire wrapping. I used copper square and half round wire. As the saying goes "Practice makes perfect" I see that there is a need for a LOT OF PRACTICE. lol Stu

looks pretty good for a first try! Was the wire dead soft or half hard? Soft is easier to form into curls etc.

The square wire was soft and the half round was half hard. Boy I didn't reaalize just how bad my eye sight has become. After looking at my "Monster Wrap all blown up on the monitor I can really see how bad it looks. However I was happy that the cab didn't fall out. That should count for something LOL My hat is off t.o all of you accomplished and gifted wire wrappers. Stu

you gotta start somewhere and that's a fine start right there.
Your wire choices are good. Putting tape on your plier faces will really help with tool marks and when your ready to do the final hoop of the bail it will help to form that hoop by wrapping those two wires around a pencil or dop stick to form a nice even circle.
keep them coming. Chuck

Not a bad first, at all!!! And, of course, it is super awesome that the stone didn't fall out. LOL! That's the most important thing. The rest is icing on the cake.
Now that you have those new expensive Lindstroms- you need to take an emory board to all the edges and soften them up. That will dramatically help with tool marks. Tape works, too, but in the long run, you are much better off just sanding.
Keep practicing.... and don't throw out your first. Keep it to look back on. You'll be glad you did.

For a first time this is really good! I find square wire the hardest to work with and have never been able to make decent swirls with it. Keep practicing, won't be long before you're bragging about each piece!

Very nice job for your first wrap. As has been stated - practice & a little tape on the tools and you'll be happy with your pieces in no time!!

Pretty good for a first try! just remember that the thicker cabs will need more strands in the bundle to make it look good - so don't try to use a three bundle wrap on a thick cabs and think its going to look great - kinda like a fat lady in too small fitting cloths
my method for wrapping is to see how many strands will look good for the top and with that I add one more for the back retainer wire that will also be the bail wire

Not bad at all, especially for a first try. Keep it up.
