That plastic tab has been rubbing too hard. Twist it back almost flush with the housing. It's just to keep the lid from rubbing on the end of the housing. Burp barrel too.

If your slurry gets too thick, it can cause a tumbler to stop rotating. It might be time to clean it out. Other thoughts are to clean the shafts and the outside of the barrel. Everybody else's recommendations are also great places to start too.
good luck. Let us know what the problem was.

I don't want to discredit the theory but it didn't work for me Worked fabulously for me on the pet wood, but had to take all of it out to start 25 lbs of agates from Virgin Valley NV, so after they are all finished, back to the wood and obsidian I go.

I actually take it back, I probally still will use it..I'm just lost and frustrated...after oiling last night I discovered this morning the tumbler doing the same thing again......I adjusted the belt.......I was wrong I didn't have a bag of belts....just O-rings and couldn't even find where they went....I stripped 2 of the screws on the screen so just had to bend it up to look at the belt...then messed one of the rubber feet screwing it back on too tight...luckily got it fixed though, when I plugged it back in it wouldn't spin it all, I guess I got the belt too tight, loosened it back up though....been running smooth for a couple hours, when I said I wasn't mechanically inclined I wasn't lying lol

yeah stephent, I always thought they were belts, but after reading the manual today when working on the belt I found out they were o rings not belts........I couldn't get the entire bottom cage off due to the screws they must have welded on lol so tight I used several screw drivers and they wouldn't budge I just had to bend the screen from the two screws I did get out.....why do you ask?

I'm gonna say they are belts... Ain't any o-rings found on the barrel are they? Unless the lid is held in with an O-ring like a Thumlers lid..

The bag of O rings is actually your of belts, I have 2 of the HF 2barrel 3lb tumblers - both came with bags of extra belts not O rings and they do tend to squeek a bit from time to time, but then I hit them with some penetrating oil (about 1x a week) and it goes away immediately. Where the spinning shaft goes into the motor housing - that's where I put the oil - on both ends - it may be overkill, but they don't and have never made any kind of grinding noise. And just like you, the plastic spacer tabs on mine have been ground down probably almost in half and mine have only been running for a couple of months, but I'm not worrying about it cause the barrels keep spinning smoothly regardless. Here is a pic of where I oil mine: Here's the ground down tab I don't worry about: And this is what was handy in the garage when I fired up the tumblers, so I've just kept using it as a lubricant for the shafts: The bag of belts that came with the tumblers: Hope this helps!!

Also, check to see if the tumbler is sitting level, both front to back, and side to side. Being slightly off kilter has caused me problems from time to time with my HF CE tumblers.

Read all the posts about your tumbler. One thing I always did after taking apart and putting back together is clean all the rubber coated drive rods, belts, drive pulley real good with rubbing alcohol. This most took over any residue on those parts and at least that should not be a problem. I got my units used and had not been used in years. I even took the motors apart, cleaned, and used 3 and 1 oil on them as I put the motor back together. If the motor runs with no load then don't take the motor apart. I have experience taking small servo motors to large motors and repairing them. Hope this helps at least to understand alittle bit !
