Finished up another batch of our local junk rock. Had to take pictures inside since it was snowing yesterday. Need to figure out some better lighting, but it is what it is. The pile o' rocks. A few close ups. Thanks for looking. Russ

Looks like you got a good shine on those, some interesting pieces there for "junk". One mans junk is another mans treasure.

That doesn't look like junk to me. I like to do local beach rocks that end up looking a lot like yours. I really like the light colored one in the last picture that appears to be an agate. That's better than anything I've found.

I like the brown eyed nodule in the 3rd photo. I think you may have found a petrified golf ball and shined it up.

That's better than anything I've found. Thanks. We find a fair amount of that agate, a lot of it is pretty plain. Some has some banding and some has dendrites, but most of it is pretty fractured and pitted. By the time it's polished up it tends to be kind of small. I do have a few larger pieces that I'm going to slab when I get a chance and see if I can do anything with them. Russ

It was laying on top of the ground like you see it, looked like an eyeball looking up at me. The only reason I call this stuff "junk" rock is because it's all in outwash with no source to trace. The mountains this stuff eroded out of are long gone and replaced with the mountains we have now. When we do find something really cool, it's usually a one time find. With our recent rain/snow we're having, there should be more to find when things dry out. Russ
