I just got my Foredom tools and I started setting them up. I got the TX5400 carvers set a DP30 Drill Press and an EM dial controll as well as the foot speed contrl. I also got the mini vise for the drill press. I just realized that I got the zink metal mini vise and they also have a plastic version. As I will be drilling into stone with water should I have gotten the plastic vise instead of the zinc metal vise? I got all of the tools from a seller on Ebay Ronsrocks. His prices were lower than Otto Frei and everything was shipped direct from Foredom, really fast service. I originally wanted to get the Foredom from John over at Johnsgems but he is no longer a Foredom dealer. However I will be getting my slab saw from him. Thanks Stu

I would guess you're probably OK with the zinc vise. It's used as a protective coating on steel sometimes, so it must be at least better than that. I would be concerned about cracking a plastic vise. If you want to be on the safe side, take it out of the water when you're done and give it a shot of WD40.
