Ok, in case anyone else is in the same circumstances, and because I feel the board in general needs to know, I've filed a dispute with Paypal to get my $$ back. If you've waited over 30 days, it's a little tougher, but filing a non-delivery dispute can be done. Then it's all up to what Paypal decides.
One caveat, should my rocks actually be held up somewhere and eventually show up, and if I got my money back, at that point I will pay george.

If I were you guys I would do the PayPal return of money ASAP. I bought a slab of rock from George months ago on eBay, it never arrived and he put me off untill the time expired for a claim. I believed him honest that it would arrive. Now his eBay account is closed.
If you a want to make it right George my eBay is Jawboney from Canada. Sure be nice to see you do right by everyone you got money from.
I would like to say "easy come easy go" but money is NOT easy to make,,,, well maybe for George!

Yes there is international tracking and it works a charm noob, well between the USA and Canada anyway. I have done literally 100's of mail transactions 99% from the USA to Canada or viceversa. In the past 12 years I have had 4 lost packages, one from Lebanon and 3 from eastern European countries. No loses to or from the USA so I think Canada post is pretty safe as well as USPS. More packages are stollen out of mailboxes than lost by the posties. Although I think CP is pricing themselves out of the market I think they are still a safe risk. Ship tracked and insured if need be.
BTW several transactions from china with never a hitch and always free shipping:). My wife has bought many pairs of real cheap earrings for 0.99 or 1.99 with free shipping, we can't compete with that!

China seems good, mostly. Once bought kidlet a bluetooth dongle she needed for her laptop. $0.99 for TWO, free postage. The package arrived in less than a week and both units worked. What was meant as a backup in case one failed, became a gift to an appreciative friend. Int'l works for most folks. Any word from GeorgeStoneStore?

He's been quiet. But PP made their decision in my favor. Just took a couple weeks.

I haven't heard from George, but I'm sure he has heard from PP. I'm awaiting their decision to my case.
If I get the my money back, I'll pay him if the rocks turn up.

Just had my case resolved in my favor. I hope everybody gets their money back who didn't get their rocks.
This, from PP, had me worried: "If the seller's account has insufficient funds to complete the refund owed to you, please be assured that we will take appropriate action against the seller's account, which may include limitation of the seller's account privileges."
I've never had a case before. I guess, if he didn't have the money in his PP account, I probably would have been sh*t out of luck.

I would strongly recommend not waiting past the 30 days to open a case with Paypal. I sell a lot on Ebay and there is no reason why a buyer should not have a viable tracking#. We should have a board were we can post the names of dead beat sellers who do not deliver after they have been paid. If you purchased from a seller and had to open a case either through Paypal or Ebay that sellers name should be posted Stu

I trusted, I waited and I lost 40 bucks. I learned a pretty inexpensive lesson. I won't wait next time, you are right Stu.

So sorry to hear all these horror stories.this is just wrong...guys like this sure make it tough for some newbie honest person to try and sell a few items..i use the method " I send the rocks if you like them keep em" send me some money..lol..you dont like them keep em anyways..its a risk but then again its only rocks on my part. I have never bought rocks, done hundreds of trades, and have 1 sale to my credit.. i realize it takes time to establish oneself here.

I waited too long to file a PayPal claim. Now it is too late and PayPal will not do anything. I did not know about the 45 day rule. Now I am out 163 and I do not have the rocks.
DO NOT EVER BUY FROM GEORGE!
This has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I really feel violated when things like this happens on the forum. People are normally skeptical when going out to make a purchase. However when someone comes into your home you tend to let your guard down. After all you think you are among friends. My advice is this: Enjoy the forum for the reasons that brought you here in the first place, and if you do make a purchase do so with both eyes open. Know your seller, know what it is you are buying and know what your rights are under "Buyer Protection". Buyer protection is your safety net. Stu

Tom and noob- sorry you couldn't get your money back. It's so hard to come by nowadays, too. It's not easy seeing it go to waste. unclestu, yes, being a member here brings a certain amount of trustworthiness. I hate to transfer this experience to other people. George had been here a while and posted a lot. I felt it would be ok. Even still, in the back of my mind, I hope he is OK. I'm a trustng person, but where it comes to money, I just like to be safe and conservative. I put in my claim on the last day, still hoping for the best, but I put it in nonetheless. This experience demonstrates that the 50 post non-rule is no guarantee.

Nope. No box of rocks either.... If he had really sent any, they would've been here by now.

I did not expect anyone heard from him. I got scammed I trust to much. Well it's my first scam ever and I have done a ton of internet buys and sells, the vast majority of people are good.

I'm the trusting sort, too. In fact, I still hope nothing happened to him. I have done 100's of deals online in the last 17 years or so and have only been burned a couple times. Most people really are decent people.

Anyone ever get anything? I got my $$ back from Paypal, but even then, he still insisted the box was shipped last May. Just curious.
