Here's my 3rd batch, and hopefully last of mostly mixed types - not entirely happy or unhappy as I know I need more wash cycles after the the polish and definitely more patience, some of these were already donated to future batches. The light wasn't great as it's been overcast here but you work with what's available. (My apologies to those who saw my screw up post of this batch that managed to find it's way to the wire wrapping section) Gene Full batch minus the really small stuff & fillers: Pet wood Fire agate that seemingly lacks "fire" - so what would be the proper name?: Flint Ridge flint Mystery agate - any help with ID is very welcome: Other mystery agates & a small piece of bertrandite: Lastly some agatized coral - the smaller piece got sent to the future batch pile cause that fracture went all the way through and the larger piece got wrapped. Thanks for looking!!

Hi Gene - They all look quite nice! Like the materials, photos and the way you labeled everything. Can't help you out much about a name for the mystery agates? The preforms are interesting. At some time, maybe, would like to endeavor doing preformed cabs in the tumbler. Thanks for sharing ..... Ivan

Sorry no help here on the mystery materials but that's a nice tumble. Really like the petwoods and flint ridge. You do the cutting?

Sorry no help here on the mystery materials but that's a nice tumble. Really like the petwoods and flint ridge. You do the cutting? Yes sir, I do the cutting whenever possible - not well or with a proper slab saw - but I do it. That chunk of flint was an oddball shaped chunk that I chopped down, same with the pet wood & everything else in the batch, the only thing that started as a slab was the 1st group of very colorful mystery agate - all of it's from the local rock shops cheap stuff piles - figured it'd be good to practice on different materials to see what works best for both the saw & tumbler and I'm still working on the tumbled batches part - imagine that may take a while.

It all looks quite great to me, I too lack the patience for the polish/wash cycles. I think I may be able to help you with an answer to this question though: Fire agate that seemingly lacks "fire" - so what would be the proper name? I believe it would be called brown chalcedony bubbles or such, but not positive lol.

they are all pretty! How big is the coral? The one on the left looks like a little geode, complete with all the concentric lines around the edge! very neat!
