Well, I’m still recovering from yesterday’s haul from McKay Head, a few miles west of Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. The backs of my legs are “bucket” bruised, my forearms and tendons are sore to the touch, and then there’s my back. Small price to pay for a good haul. The pain is temporary, the rocks are forever! Although the amygdaloidal basalt that I collect in is all from the same formation, and many collecting sites are within sight of one another, the material varies greatly from outcrop to outcrop. A few things you can count on from McKay Head … bright yellows, raspberry reds, and a nice blue tinge to the agate and chalcedony. I’ve been preoccupied with zeolites lately, but it’s good to get a haul of slicing material again. I’m looking forward to running the saw later tonight and will post some pics of some of the better slices. Based on the rough, anyone want to do a shout out on what they think will make good slice/cab? These photos were taken of wet rocks under overcast (grey) skies. Darryl.

Tremendous variety - you won't get bored cutting those. Something different for every cab. Thanks for sharing.

those are all nice, but my favorite one is "The pain is temporary, the rocks are forever!"
