Thank you Larry. I pre-ground these and then punished them with the coral. They rolled a long time. Stuff takes a fine polish(not apparent in strong sunlight). Well worthy of macros, great grain detail. Nice to grind the views from all three directions to see the grain structure.

Even though you have to help babysit the newborns, I hope you'll take some cheatin' macro shots of the pet wood soon, jamesp.

OK then Ken and Jan. I am inspired. Macro's coming at a computer screen near you. Larry is really good at collecting the stuff. He has to drive clean across the state of Oregon and get to camp. i think he has thousands of honey holes out there. Bet he has a memory like an elephant. It often breaks in cubes and plates. Making easy tumbles. I need to run a whole jug of them.

Yes, eagerly awaiting the macros, grandpa James.
How big is "a whole jug of them?" I can send some Cali ones your way, they look very similar (except better, lol).

No telling where that lingo came from. Close by likely. It may be in the International Standard of Precision Red Neck Measurments-ISPRNM. A tongue twister at best. Getting photography requests, head swelling/neck straining. Gotta wait till high noon @ OK Coral. (sp) Actually the very fine grain of McDermitt does make sexy macros. And really takes more mag than my lens has. Settings to high pixel count and blow them up to maximus mag.

I know, long day, what with the puppies, and all. Jan said you could do cheater closeups, you have the okay.

You figure I have the memory of an elephant, you better be talking to Carol and try to convince her of that. Larry

I bet she will say "excellent memory for rock locations". But when it comes to remembering honey-dos....that is the true test. Please do not ask that question in this household. ha

Very nice! Sometimes I think the best pet wood is the stuff that actually looks like "wood". Had some people over to tour my shop last week and let them go through my tumbles and a lot of the rocks they picked were that sort of pet wood. Everyone always seems fascinated when wood is turned to stone and still retains all its wood grain pattern......Mel

Hard to beat straight-up preservation. They look at some shrinkwoods and seem to question your ID. No guess work with some woods, and they are often not as colorful though. Check out the macros, got some great detail. (in photos of tumbles)
