Howdy folks, Rainy day so I've been sorting some of my south Texas wood slab pics. Some I've posted before and some maybe not but some of our newer folks might be interested. Some are closer looks than before too. These are all palm fiber for the most part. Thanks for looking.....Mel This one is shrinkwood but you can see the palm fiber bundles remaining at the bottom of the slab. Strange golden palms: Gold, green and whatever: Pattern is intermittent in this one: Blah gray: Cut with fiber: Partially rotted palm: And finally, Big red. Found tis last trip and haven't cut it yet:

Beautiful wood Mel. I still have not cut the piece you sent to me a couple of years ago. Too pretty just the way it is.
You did say rain, right? Shouldn't you be out dancing in it? Jim

Jim, Ah yes, heavenly moisture from the sky. Finally getting some good rain this month and man, did we need it. Screwed up all my horseback rides for this weekend but at this point, I'll miss riding for rain any day. Got another whopping thunderstorm coming in in about 5 minutes. This one has a tornado watch so could get interesting *L*.....Mel

Really like the shrinkwood in the second photo and the "cut with fiber" has an interesting effect.

That shrinkwood is so great to look at, it would be really painful to cut it for cabs...
