“Un-searched mine run” is a phrase understood by experienced rock hounds to mean rubbish for noobs.
Nobody makes money selling anything un-searched, it just doesn’t work that way.
If you want to have fun with gems, try buying parcels by the kilo. Yellow sunstone from Oregon is cheap, and cuts a gorgeous stone. Ruby in zoisite can hold some surprises. Even low grade tanzanite can have some decent bits in a kilo. Tourmaline is fun to play with, but far from cheap.
Shannon and Sons has a massive variety of bulk minerals and gems for sale, and their prices are eminently reasonable. Do not expect facet grade material, but they have literally tons of cab and tumble grade. A favorite of mine is kilo bags of blue hauyne in volcanic rock from Germany. Tiny bits, under 1/8”, not much use for lapidary, but ever so fun to sort, the color is fantastic.
