I'm in contact with someone who is selling a Royal saw. It is supposed to be a 18" benchtop model but I thought most benchtop models were 16" and smaller.
I'm still waiting for pictures. Anyway, if someone knows if a Royal saw comes in a 18" benchtop model, let me know. Thanks!

It took a while but now I've seen a Royal 18" bench top model.....because it's in my garage. It was a bit complicated but I bought the saw from a guy in Portland and Mattatya happened to be there on some other business and he picked it up for me. Anyway, the outside looks a bit rusty but the blade looks like it still has some life in it. The mechanics seem pretty good although I think I will clean up the wiring. I get a bit nervous when I see a bunch of electrical tape wrapped around the power cord around a splice of some sort. The guy was using it with soapy water to cut imperial jasper and he said he had replaced the motor, feed motor, and some bearings recently. The motor is only 1/2 HP so I will probably upgrade to something bigger. All-in-all a pretty decent deal for $450. Now I have to rearrange my garage and make some room for it.

Congrats on the new saw! Looks like it will clean up nicely. The 1/2hp motor should be plenty power for an 18" saw. Especially this style since it has a separate motor for the powerfeed. Larry C.

Yep, if they replaced the gearmotor with a 4RPM like the original 1"/5min is just right for the saw and 1/2hp is fine, they used to use 1/3hp.

Thanks for the tip about the motor. I'll just leave it for now. since the saw is fairly clean right now I'm thinking of sanding, priming, and painting the box. Did the Royal saws have a particular paint color?
