Well it's been over 5 months since I have been able to sit still long enough to do any cabs or wrapping!! But now that I am finally feeling better and able to move around I have done 3 cabs and wrapped 2 of them in the last 3 weeks... I've been calling this material 'Tiger Stripe Jade' as it reminds me of the patterns worm in Vietnam back in the 60's If anyone has a correct name for it let me know, thanx! 65x25mm free form cab with 20g round silver colored copper wire and 20g 1/2 rd copper wire. same wrap pic w/flash. 65x25mm free form cab with 18g sq Brass and 28g round silver colored copper wire. same w/flash and this last one is Mystic Merlinite, aka Indigo Gabbro. It's a 6-sided free form that is 25mm long x 15mm at the ends x 21mm wide in the middle. This one has some flecks in it... someone said maybe pyrite. Bottom left on 1st pic and bottom right on the 2nd pic. Wrapped the top 2 pieces are 80x30mm, in case any1 was wondering!! Thanx for looking !!

Well, welcome back!!! Nice wraps! What I really like is that you didn't try to use wimpy wire on these big stones. The wire and wrap are in scale with the stones. I like the flow, too. Can't help with ID, but it's cool material. I like the gabbro, too. I keep meaning to get some for myself. I have a feeling it is really cool in person.

I like the gabbro, too. I keep meaning to get some for myself. I have a feeling it is really cool in person. I got the gabbro from amazon thru fantasia mining... I think it was a 2 pound parcel they sent me. Both of my trim saws are down at the moment so I found the piece that was as close to flat backed as I could and ground it to the shape I saw in it, but was trying to stay conventional with an oval, but as it got closer to finish I saw the 6 sided shape in it more & more so I went with it instead. Some pieces show the blue better than others and the added flash is a nice bonus when you get it. All in all I really like the stuff and will be posting more pieces of it as soon as I can work more of it. I think you would really enjoy working with it. I honestly wish I could find some larger pieces of it too, in the 3-5 inch range, I really enjoy making larger pieces and focal pieces. I have a large Midnight Lace Mahogany Obsidian piece, that I am having done up with a custom bezel by a friend as silversmithing is beyond me for now and he likes a challenge, that I will post here when it is done. should be interesting to see.

Nice cabs of some new-to-me materials. Nice wrap too.
