the hard part may be finding them beauties. no rocks-no cuts. the baculites are peculiar shaped. Like a head running around with an extended kkk cap on. Still got mine sitting next to me. The detail is great; the interlocking structure is so unique. You are lucky to find those.

Very nice finds! Even if they don't cut as nice as these ended up I bet you still had fun finding them Finding them is the best part....The 1st human to uncover the fossil, since it died as an animal, fish or "etc"...So exciting... Heck I jump and scream when I find a super great fossil...It's still that way 26 years later...Loving it!!!!!! Two thumbs up

Awesome! Gutsy, too, cutting them in half. I'd be worried about losing too many of them to breakage. But worth it. There's so much more to them now. Good on you.

I can sell a baculite for around $15 to $20..If I cut it,it triples the value to $50 to $80...

Awesome stash Fossilman....thumbs up! Any indicators as to which ones are worth cutting or is it just luck of the draw to get the killer innards? Also I have been wondering about the patterns on the surface under the m.o.p. - how does one expose the pattern and get the killer sheen? I have a dozen or so I have picked up from the MT hinterlands, need to get them out of the bin do something with them....Cheers

The insides of some fossils are the treasures....Thumbs up I have a lot of ammonites in my collection...from Morocco, Madagascar, Russia, and so on. My favorite, hands down, is the Russian ammonite in pyrite, cut in half. Like the one in this pic:

I have a few Russian pyrite ammonites too,my fav...Plus one Russian ammonite that is nice.. I dislike anything from Morocco, and (or) Madagascar..They flooded the American fossil market and we took a nose dive because of them (fossil prices)...My opinion of course!
