About a month ago I brought my kids (ages 3 & 5) to yale peobody to use their uv lamp and ID some rocks. Ever since then the oldest has been begging to go back. Hubby finally had a day off so we had a little familly day trip. Figured I'd share a bit about myself and familly. I also took pics of some of their mineral exhibit for you all. Yale has an incredible geology dept mirrored by their museam specimens. I'm not going to overload this thread with pics so to view please click the links to view the albums Egyptian artifacts, birds and insects imgur.com/a/5QMA6Fossil room (Sry about the red eye) imgur.com/a/OPiA0Minerals The info placards are about the size of business cards to help give an idea of the size of these specimins. The pic with my boys from left to right is calcite, flourite, I think galena, and amethyst. The last pic is a close up of the amethyst which had beautiful crystal clear double terminated quarts. Amazing! imgur.com/a/jDvE6

Oh ps! The fossil room has the exhibit with the triceratops and taurasaurus.... saw a really interesting ted talk on shapes shifting dinosaurs, about how these separate dinosaurs are actually the same species just at different stages of development and by looking the the marrow in the bones they can determine the ages in the species line. Anyone who collects gembone might find this really interesting

I highly recommend going! Lucky if you get to in back, I bet they have a TON not out on display.
I was putting the kids to bed talking about our day and the oldest said he needed to go back because he didn't finish brushing all the dirt off the eggs. LOL! I promised we'd go back another time. They had a really great time, we all did
