It left metal on the rock, so it's harder than steel, so I guess it's not limestone.

I'm guessing those round bodies are remnants of fossil algae. It may have started as calcium and later been transformed with silic or ?? but you are dealing with something that was living at one time in my best guess. Tom

Yep, that looks like the same thing. I'm interested to see how it polishes. I just made a cab from mine today and I was disappointed in the polish. I'm not super experienced at cabbing, but two other rocks I did today polished up great. My green rock didn't polish evenly. The lighter parts took more of a shine than the darker parts. It's actually a little shinier than the picture shows.
