Lots of mistakes but it's mine to wear & it was a great learning piece! One thing I learned is that my two torches (butane & propane) are not capable of doing larger pieces. So I will have to stick with smaller ones for now.

Sounds like you need propane/oxy or oxy/ acetylene. The little torches are really only suited for very low temp solders and small repairs. Nice piece though. I really like fossil coral.

Thanks John. Yep, my instructor actually took the piece home & soldered the bezels to the copper after several failed attempts with both her butane & my propane. She used her acetylene torch.

Acetylene is hot stuff. well done Donnie. Good to see you metal manipulating. if you can wrap, then you can metal manipulate. I see you are fond of the hammer and anvil. Looking forward to more.

Thanks James! I've been thinking about one of those anvils made with railroad ties. That should get the job done pretty good!

Many swear by them. most rail has a hardened top surface. Some harder than others. If it's not real hard and can leave hammer marks.

I love this! The texture is so cool with the stone- really awesome! I started with a butane and quickly realized that I needed to go with acetylene. My silversmithing has been designated as a winter sport for me. In the warm weather cabs take precedence.

love the textures and patinas on the metals, they compliment the stones very nicely. those textures play off each other and echo around again. very neat.

Very nice pendant! A guy who ran our biggest torch cutting table used to lay a piece of RR track on the table and cut out tons of anvils at a time.Wish I grabbed ne but I wasn't interested in this at the time,,,I really did have the interest,,,but not the time! LOL connrock
