Hi snowmom, we found out there are a lot of things people are calling jade that is not really jade. We are trying to sell the black quartz to people in Thailand because they use for sculptures and this material is easy to carve. It is totally opaque though, no matter how thin the slab, this was one of the signs it was not jade. Also asking around people with contacts in China. Not many people in US interested. Once we sell enough we can some money to test more samples for metal

Hey Campitossunriseminer!
You and your dad offering any good deals on sunrise or turquoise to members here? I'm always looking for good, yet inexpensive turquoise rough and chalk.

Hi Phil, as far as I know he is no longer selling rough sunrise. He's been finding an interesting version of it with purple, red, cuprite blends, more malachite, and other minerals (we've been told galena, sulphur among others). It also has different patterns from the sonora sunrise, so we have been calling it campitos sunrise. Also because sonora sunrise comes from the Milpillas mine, not from Cananea (campitos is in Cananea). He is just selling slabs for 80 cents a gram and cabs for $1 a carat. As for turquoise, I think he has chalk turquoise, nothing high grade. He has a facebook called "Campitos Minerals" if you would like to ask him. My uncle Jorge Ruvalcaba also mines at Campitos and he gets mostly turquoise (different operation, different dig sites). I can send you his info too if you would like. We're all hoping sales keep up or at least go up so we can invest in a new mine for metal. My dad's site is: www.facebook.com/pages/Campitos-minerals/1428638067428216here is a picture of one of the slabs of the "campitos sunrise"

My husband inherited from his step father all the black jade. Mined from Young Arizona.

I bought some of the Arizona black jade from Young Arizona and it is not jade. I did not send it back, even though I paid way too much for a rock that was not jade, because some of the people on here wanted to have a piece to look at and I thought maybe I could use it for backing. One thing led to another and I did not get around to sending out pieces then forgot about it. I am amazed that this came up because a few days ago I was digging around and came across a fist sized piece (there is more somewhere) so if I get a chance to cut it I will make the offer again. I used the stone to make a couple of pieces because I needed a black sky to mount an opal moon and some opal stars. I did not want to cut my black jade for an experiment that may turn out to be junk. As it turned out this experiment worked because this stone is easy to polish to a luster finish (the sky does not shine). This is the finished pendant. Anyone who pays jade prices for this stone is getting ripped off. When I get some slabs cut I will make the same offer as before and send out samples if the people will pay just the postage. Jim

I might have a few piece somewhere in the yard.
