Russ and I went hounding and we started in an area that I had heard about. Several hours later when we still had not found anything except for sandstone I told Russ that HE should make the next choice. He went east of Lovell Wyoming on 14A, crossed over the upper end of Yellowtail dam and turned left. When I stepped out of the pickup there was a dendritic agate starring up at me. Russ dug it out, tossed it in the pickup and we wandered toward the lake (river now because of low water) where the bank is totally littered with rock a lot of which can not be carried out because of size. Russ went south, I went north and we both made a couple of trips back to the pickup with some fairly nice pieces but nothing spectacular. I wandered a little further out and came across a really nice agate about 6 X 6 X 18 to 20 inches. Just small enough to get into my 12 inch saw. I got around to cutting that dude today (we were out a few weeks ago) and molly holly is it a good one. A photo is worth a thousand words so here are a few thousand words, give or take. Russ and the rocks I found. It was pretty here though. My subconscious must have been wanting to hide the second place because I did not take any photos there. The dendritic agate turned out to be a dud but I think you will like this. What is left after eight or nine slabs and the butt. One fracture in the edge of each slab. In this country that is like winning the lottery. It was a great time even though we spent most of the time riding. Lots to look at. Now I have to go back because it was easy pickins. Jim

That's a winner there, Jim. That was really a good trip. I'll put up a couple of pictures tomorrow of rocks, forgot to take my camera that day. Productive area. Fun day exploring, and found some rocks. Had to laugh-choosing rocks by the ones I could actually pick up.

Wanted to get some outdoor pics this afternoon but it clouded up and tried to rain. Ah well, took a few pics in the shop. These are two slabs from a rock from that day. And backlit. I wasn't quite as lucky about fractures, but I like it. Need to get back up there. Russ
