I have fought my Lortone lid for as long as I have owned it (4 years) and finally decided I will fight it no more. Hit up my scrap bin and found what I needed, rummaged through my screw assortment for ten screws and nuts then started drilling holes. Couple of years ago I bought a three inch grinder and they were nice enough to send two hinge halves with it. They may have had a different idea on the usage of these items. It is not necessary to buy a three inch grinder to get the hinge halves, most anything will do. Two small pieces of 1" aluminum angle which I already had. I was going to put a stop on it but it worked so easy going all the way over that I just left it. If I ever get tight for room I can add a stop so it will stand straight up. I just used the old copper tube holder upper to show it swung half way over. Why I fought this thing for so long is beyond me because I am lovin it now. Now I won't have to strap the thing down when I am loaded and rolling down the highway either which was a real pain in the butt when I was on the move. Jim

Great fix- I feel inspired to do the same with mine, but mine will need the stop for sure. Thanks!
