Howdy folks. Little late posting today's installment as I had to go out on a snake rescue this morning ( beautiful Texas Coral Snake). Anyway, here's a few for today......Mel This was totally covered by a reddish crust and I didn't know it was from the Firefly pit. Probably one of my favorite I've cut from this site. Closer look at my favorite slab. Shows the tiny poppies that make this stuff up. Only one healed fracture too. Just a one off a heel: And finally, white/pink snowflake jasper from the Sierra Jasper Pit:

Interesting stuff! I assume the white material is made up of cristobalite needles like in snowflake obsidian?

Dave, I don't think they are the same as the snowflakes in obsidian but I'd have to go read my jasper book to find out. I've read so many stories about the genesis of poppy jasper that tell different tales and I'm a wildlife biologist not a geologist *L* so I really dunno....Mel
