That is some sweet rock and beautiful wrap. They used to dig that stone about 40 miles from where I am living now but there is no more access. Not sure if it is all taken out or not. Jim

I really like this one Tommy. The wrap style is perfect for the stone pattern. The shape of the cab stands out too.

Very nice! The setting is just perfect for this stone and is perfection in itself. Great job!

Thank you everyone I've been planning this one for a while - cut the stone specifically for the wrap and was thinking about getting home and wrapping it the whole time we were in McDermitt last weekend haha.

Nice one, Tommy! You may call it a flower prong wrap, but I'll still think of it as a tommy wrap, lol!
The wrapped Potholes petrified wood pendant you sent me now has a permanent ligature. Picked up a 3mm round brown leather one at the craft store. It goes great with it! Thanks again. Jean

As it started coming together I was giggling like a school girl thinking about the look on your face. Outside of Facebook I never posted any pictures of it - hope you don't mind if I do now because it definitely ranks right up here with this dryhead on the fun meter haha. The wrap on your Potholes wood is better than the Dryhead I posted here to be perfectly honest.

I really like the way these wraps look. Any chance of a picture of the back of one of them?

Sorry my photo is not as elegant as Tommy's, but you can get a pretty clear idea as to method.

In your dreams, Tommy! (There is no ( Indian giving oops, not PC) take backs in rocks, lol ) I think what you need to do is cab up a couple more slabettes of that stuff, and try to out do yourself. You know you have it in you. And think of all the fun you'll have making another. Yes, it is very purty. I love it very much, giggling schoolgirl...

Very cool - am I correct in thinking that you slip the stone in place before you finish, then use the wraps between the bail and the top "prong" to tighten it up?
I'm going to have to try doing something like this, but I foresee a lot of failed attempts along the way...

I'm going to have to try doing something like this, but I foresee a lot of failed attempts along the way... There's a question for you, Tommy.
As for failed attempts, that's how you learn. We have all been there. (I know, hard to believe that when looking at Tela's beautiful, drop-dead gorgeous wraps!) You never know how/if something is going to work until you give it a go!
Remember the old adage,
If at first you don't succeed, Try, try again!

Sorry I'm kind of buzzed from the Oakland A's game just got home from - but yes the stone goes in after the patina is added and rubbed out and the prong wires are all cut to length and standing up straight by that point. The last thing that happens is the loops are created in a burnishing motion which flattens them against the front of the stone and creates a very secure setting. Give it a try!
