For some reason my rock hunting tends to focus on green and black-ish rocks now I have learned to admire the granite and 'leaverite" there. (still can't resist sometimes). Would love to see tumbles of green stones... love them all. Ids on the ones you know would be appreciated as well. thanks!

yes! Those are beautiful Chuck! I want to pick up those green jaspers and turn them round and round and get lost in them. I love the moss. Makes me positively drool. does anybody here tumble jade-ish pebbles? I find a lot that look like serpentine, I worry about asbestos though.

First up is Wyoming nephrite/jade. I do not tumble any more but I tumbled this stuff along with jasper and agate with no problems. I found a few pieces of green pet wood and this is one of them. Hard to tell it is wood now that it is finished. The rest of these are local Wyoming agate and jasper (my ID, could be anything) OOps. more Wyoming nephrite The pink and green is too hard to be thulite. I have seen something similar IDd but can not remember what it was. The green in these two is really deep and gorgeous in hand. Agate maybe.

I wouldn't worry about tumbling rocks with asbestos - it is only dangerous if airborne. So don't use grinding wheels without protection. Here is my contribution - Lizard Stone:

Toad, those are wonderful! That particular shade of green leaning yellowish is so attractive! Re asbestos: How does one dispose of the ground up rock muck stuff so it doesn't dry out and blow around? just dumping it out behind the garage won't work. If you bury it how do you keep somebody from digging there and exposing it unbeknownst? Some must get on ones clothing or the floor, and the fibers can be then distributed in the fabric of everything that is washed in the load... (you can see I worry about this, my husband was an asbestos inspector for several years). I sure love the way it looks though... I struggle with finding balance on this issue. Spouse really prefers I don't mess with it. and I ask myself how bad can the stuff be if they make floors and countertops out of it/(serpentine)? Well, I won't resolve it in my mind but I do have to respect my husband's comfort level over it all, so no serpentine for me. I still love finding all the serpentine here and love seeing it when it is worked by somebody else. I will have a huge pile of serpentine in my rock pile out back to go visit if my current collecting habits keep up. Love green!

I let the slurry dry out in a 5-gallon pail and then dump in a cardboard box for disposal on trash day. I'll line the box with a kitchen garbage bag first and then tie it up before sealing the box. It then goes to the landfill...

Thanks for the asbestos advice. I've been dumping the slurry in the back forested area of my house but maybe I will start to put it in a bag and then leave it for the garbage man. I freaked myself out a few times early on getting into rocks and finding out about serpentine/asbestos, but I'm not really concerned anymore. I'm probably killing myself with energy drinks worse than rock tumbling will do.

haha Henry, I'm promiscuous regarding rocks... I want one of every color, pattern, and type... but greens maybe a bit more so.

Well, not tumbles, but here's a few green ones -
Seraphinite
Turkish Rainforest Jasper rough (from @shotgunner)
Cabbed, stone was much lighter inside
Some Kambaba Jasper beads
Serpentine
From Brubaker-Mann Mine (AKA, Green Monster). Will have to look up the name of the rock. Edit to add - it is andesite. Thank you, Scott!
Verisite nodule
And lastly, some Gary Green Jasper.
Thought you might like to keep the thread going, there are so many green rocks out there!

Well, I've posted quite a few green rocks in a couple of threads here lately, but here is a Wyoming jade again Actually, I'd consider that a poorer quality rock. Threw some green jasper in the big tumbler tonight so I should have more pics in, oh a couple of months. Russ

Did that turkish cab come from that slab? wow! Nice work. Yes, and thank you. This is the first piece you gave me, I think on the field trip to the North Cadys. After you slabbed some more, you sent me another. I haven't done anything with that one yet.

Here's a piece of Carmel Jade that I found on the beach. A friend cabbed it for me. I still have a bag full of smaller pieces that I'd hoped to start working on this summer. carmel jade by dazy62
