Howdy folks, Spent yesterday afternoon sawing through a long hunk of old time Morgan Hill. This variety used to be called " Pimento Poppy". Got about 2/3 the way through the hunk and so far it's pretty solid stuff. Might even get me some 30 X 40's out of this one. Here are a few pics.....Mel The whole progression starting top left, just like they came off the hunk. Closer shot of the smaller poppies: Larger poppies ( they are getting larger as I cut through the block) some of these are better than half an inch across.

Great variety in the poppy as you move thru the chunks. Nice slabs. Cheers

We (senior center) had a guy from some rock club over there visit us 2 years ago for a couple months, who used to tell us stories about the Morgan Hill Poppy rock they collected. I think his name was Dan. Anyway, when he returned home, we "traded" him a big box of assorted material we had for a box he was going to ship once he got home. We never heard from the guy again.... Just thought you guys need to know to be careful.
