Collected some malformed corals to cut as specimens and nightmares. They are sharp and jagged, typical of incomplete silicifications. Will be sawing them for the next few days. Tricky picking these in the field.

Started cutting the basketball sized one on the left front of tail gate. It would barely fit in the 18 inch saw vice and almost too tall for the blade. Cutting 1-2 inch slabs. It is full of cavities and separated sections. Some of the sections fall away from the main chunk while sawing. I ate a blade by sawing these when a section fell of and bent the blade. Blade was toast. 6 speed feed rate on Covington, set at slowest feed speed. The kerosene/oil mix is the slipperiest lub I can find. 303 segmented blade is spinning faster than continuos blade per manufacturers recommendations. I think he wanted a 20 percent speed increase, so I changed the pulley on the blade speed, not the feed speed.
