Howdy folks, Well, Tommy's beautiful Morgan Hill Poppy jasper post got me all excited so I spent yesterday sawing on more jasper from my Morgan Hill stash. Here are a few pics....Mel This one changed pattern and color a bit as I cut through it. Here are the first three cuts: Next three got more yellow: Couple of cuts oriented the other direction off the heel: Another piece that got much better as I cut through it: This is an older pic I thought I'd throw in for comparison. A buddy gave me this rough and I believe its from Uvas Creek. The poppy I've had from there all seems bigger and bolder in pattern but still fractured all to heck.

very outstanding colors, with all the fractures what do you do with them ? do they become tumbler material ?

I use the same preforming technique with Morgan Hill that I use with the fractured Hornitos poppy slabs. I put the slabs on a soft surface and tap them gently with the plastic handle of a screwdriver When they break along fractures, I free form cab the solid bits. Pieces too small do head for the tumbler pile. Used to do only calibrated cabs but I find the free form cabs more fun to do and they give me the best, least wasteful use of the jasper.....Mel Couple of fairly large cabs from broken bits:
