Lol I plan to snowmom. We just got back from a mini vacation (7 year wedding anniversary, been together 10 years) to acadia national park... pics to follow once I upload them. That place is a geological wonder! Not much for fancy stuff... granite really but the forces that made it what it is are a marvel!

Really cool piece ya got Where are you from that you find it? This one is baseball sized, I can't believe it was just dumped in the trap rock and layed out as gravel

Oh my...wow! My guess for where mine came from is either tilcon or tomasso quarries, altho Connecticut and Massachusetts have alot of quarries so it could really be any of them and access is strictly off limits to non employees, they are large industrial scale quarries. This is tomasso: This is tilcon: I drive past tilcon at least 3x a week, I'll try to snap a pic next time I go by. It's kinda cool, my kids love seeing the loaders filling up the dump trucks

My only real option here is to have hubby keep an eye out while he's on the job, unfortunately. I'd love to sift thru their tailings (for lack of a better word, these are both gravel quarries)

Holy Moses in a basket - is that a NINE SILO Astec plant?!?!?!
( FWIW - I am the transportation supervisor for a Construction firm in NC , and worked at one of the larger ones in the state before getting tired of their BS and coming to this smaller company. I run about 180 dump trucks, flatbeds and water trucks a day - so I get to hunt in thousands of tons of aggregate every day too .. )

There is a hiking trail that runs along the property line of tilcon. Been meaning to go up there at some point, but without the kids (not an easy task) and yes 9 silos, I wasn't joking when I said they move alot of material lol. My in laws live a couple blocks behind the quarry and they actually had to have guys (employees of tilcon) come and set up seismometers because the blasting shakes the homes in the area, once a week they come by to make sure the vibrations aren't causing damage to the foundations of the homes nearby
