Whattaya do with big ole fat mullet like that?? Night time is the trick. That's when the gator boys are out. I was taught by the neighbors and gave them mine. Mullet = hamburgers at that neighborhood. They all smoke them and serve at get togethers.I just eat it at the neighbor's house. They are not good for freezing. The ones in the ocean taste muddy, these are good. I got a humble camp. Not fancy.

humble = good for dude trips and a little partaking. Sit in that red neck spa you made and have a few brews. If ya want a jacuzzi, then add some farts to make bubbles.... haha!!
So, the lake george mullets get smoked and and meat picked off the bones to be eaten? Seems like a light refreshing beer may be in order too.

Private owned section starts at my lot and goes south a few miles along the west facing shore. The lake shore turns to the west and flanks my property along my north property line forming a point facing NE. Next northerly neighbor is at least 10 miles north. So it is quiet and the residents south of me alligator hunt once around the point. The gators first uninhabited shore. The point is some of the better fishing too. Most of my neighbors eat shrimp, mullet, fish and crab from the lake as it is a commercial blue crab and catfish source. Bait also. Season on turtle and gator, that go in freezers too. The bird life is diverse. About every ocean bird, lots of birds of prey. Kites, hawks, bald eagles, owls and osprey. A lot of animals cut across my property and I watch them from the front porch. the most action is birds of prey swooping down on squirrels, field rodents, turtle hatchlings, snakes, lizards, frogs etc in the field in front of the camp that has a small pond in the middle of it. A view of the killing field, lake straight ahead and to the left, pond on right. And the dude cabin. Looking east. From in front of camp looking west. From front porch looking south on a rainy day. Bath tub/shower lower right corner, solar water heater atop white pump house. I have had some interesting neighborly visits over the years while sitting on that porch I have been awakened many time by bears foraging in the open air downstairs, a ladder to the upstairs for sleeping.

This is Silver Glen Springs. It is about 5 miles south. In the center of the photo is a cave that has about 30 million gallons of water spewing out daily. It flows about a half mile before dumping into the lake. A winter time view. In the warm season it changes personality In the winter tilapia, blue crab, striped bass, others, populate the run to take refuge in the warmer water as the lake temp drops. October blue crabs are molting and can be caught with a hand net making easy table fare since they have no shell. Silver Glen is on of three large springs than can be entered by boat from the lake. Salt Springs is a 5 mile run and Juniper Springs is a 6 mile trip best by air boat or kayak. Alcoholic beverages have recently been banned on the run, imagine that.

Sweet pics, James! Makes me want to sit on the dock of the bay . . . Something tells me the Glen party is not listening to Otis' beautiful song until the sun goes down and they slow up a bit Bill.
