Howdy folks, Took a couple of cuts off the other end of the OJ yesterday. These were at least, little better for cabs. Also tried some serpentine to see if it is a good saw sharpener stone and it's not. Not much abrasive quality at all. Serpentine is greener than the pic shows. Here are a couple of pics......Mel Ocean Jasper: Serpentine from up near Valley Springs, CA. Heard this called Bird's Eye, Frogskin, or Lizardskin Serpentine. This piece has some cleavage planes and some micro fractures plus kind of a strange multihardness/woody texture. I've never tried cabbing it yet and I'm wondering if it's even worth trying to cab it. Any of you folks ever polished this material? I've polished a Zebra type serpentine from Washington state and it undercut some and came out with kind of a dimply/rippley finish.

OJ is interesting, surely is bright! We almost never find yellow here. That Frogskin is wonderful... why not try one little cab just to see how it does? I've seen pics of it polished up and it really does look like frog skin.. pretty cool! don't forget to show us how it comes out!

That yaller hollers! Sounds like that serpentine would not be a good tumbling candidate but it has a nice color and pattern.
