Can anyone tell me about a 8" horizontal lap machine that was made by C. & E. Marshall? All I know is that they are a watch repair company out of Chicago, IL. There is a multitude of watch repair kits listed online, but nothing about this machine. Any information would be most appreciated! Thanks Everyone.

I'm no Lap artist, But I'm handy with doing a few searches.. Seems that your lap machine was made by C & E Marshall and they where listed in an 1918 flier about watch makers and jewelry suppliers. I'll continue my search. This would prob be the best source to ask about your lap machine: www.lathes.co.uk/peerless/

Thanks! I picked it up on ebay for a real good price, and just wanted to get more background on it.

Just an update... The machine is @ 75 - 80 years old and still runs great. It's a slow machine, @320 rpm's so I got a felt pad for it and am using it for my cerium oxide buffing. 1st few stones have polished up well!

Hi, navyvet8192, and Welcome to RTH! Wow, that's pretty cool that you have a flat lap that is around 75-80 years old - and works great. Cannot see your pics posted on your shutterfly account. Sure would like to see your machine.

Shutterfly wants me to sign up to see the pics. Perhaps if it's like photobucket you can change the settings to make them viewable by the public. Sounds like a great find
