Eloxite had a sale on mk303 8" .032 saw blades in January 2013. I ordered 2 by phone and specified a 1" arbor (what my Genie trim saw requires). I quit doing lapidary until now to grow roses. I unpacked the box today and they have a 5/8" arbor. There is no point contacting Eloxite because they don't sell the blade with a one inch arbor. Is this something I can get fixed reasonably at a machine shop? An ebay seller used to redrill the holes to one inch. Is this something I could attempt myself?

You can do it yourself with a drill press, first put a 5/8 bit in the drill and center the blade around it, then clamp the blade down so it can't move. Then switch to a 1" bit and drill your hole.

Thanks. I ordered one. If it works ok, I can order more of the blades with the smaller hole. The one inch generally cost more.

stardiamond when you use the step drill take a permanent marker and mark the next step larger than the diameter you intend to go to so you don't accidently make the hole too big. Don't ask how I learned this.
