Don't think there are many east coasters here but non the less thought I'd share.
August 8-10 West Springfield, Massachusetts. I'll be there friday. Admission is $6. Supposed to be the best one that comes around

So I went to the show yesterday and when entering the building there was a huge sign posted that photography was prohibited unless permission was granted from the seller. I didn't take any photos, the place was mobbed with people and the sellers were pretty busy. I went with my grandparents and asked them what that was about, I guess there are theft rings that make their way to these shows, they have heard announcements over the pa notifying sellers these theft rings are on the prowl and asked about it the first time they heard one. A person comes in one day and takes pics of the layout and targets specific booths. Either the same day or over the course of the weekend they come in groups and distract sellers as another person takes stuff. Sad to hear it goes on and feel bad for the sellers who have had items stolen.
Besides the lack of photos and unfortunate criminal activity I had a really good time. Pretty overwhelming tbh. Lots of museam quality specimens on display along with excellent craftmanship. I have a couple new favorites to add to my wish list, and picked up a couple specimens for my personal collection as well as a couple items I plan to turn into pendants. I'll post pics after the weekend of my purchases once I get a nice sunny day and I gotta find the info on each stone which is on the back of the sellers business cards mixed into the pile of other business cards I picked up (I grabbed a lot)
Just figured I should update my post before it was way past due and was curious if theft was as common in other regions of the country as it seems to be here
