Howdy folks, Chuck was interested in an ID for a cab he cut so I wanted to show examples of Kabamby Poppy Jasper from Madagascar vs Northern California poppy jasper with a similar color palette. As I told Chuck though, I've seen northern California material that was very similar (almost identical) to his example.....Mel Anyway, this is what I think Chuck has in his cab, Kabamby (just a best guess). Spheroids tend to often merge and be very smoothly spherical *L* and the jasper tends to be fracture free. California stuff found from Morgan Hill to Pope valley and Stony creek. Usually more fractured than this piece. This example really mimics Morgan Hill with it's huge feathered edged poppies making it more of a flowering jasper than an orbicular jasper. Similar color palette to Kabamby though. Again, Snow Mountain, Stony Creek, Lake County and Pope Valley Poppy can be very smoothly orbicular too making his cab a real tough call but the good orbicular stuff is so rare, I don't have an example of the really spherical stuff in my type collection. Just the rarity of the northern California orbicular stuff makes it more likely his example is Kabamby as there used to be quite a lot of it on the market a few years ago

Thanks for taking the time Mel. Looks like a near perfect match.
