I did a search on Blue Mountain jasper on sold items to get any idea what it goes for. I found one cab that had sold for a good amount. I decided to search sold cabs from highest to lowest and it was very informative.
The most expensive items sold were fire opals, carved cabs and rare material. Next was very unusual Laguna agate cabs and at the bottom were a lot of crazy lace (mainly sold from India) and Montana. There were very few porcelain jasper cabs sold. I don't know if sellers figure that they won't get the best price on ebay, buyers aren't interested or a combination of both.

proportionally not so much porcelain jasper is worked. most is no longer mined. IMO, folks who do work it do so for their own use. if they do sell, more likely on their own site or maybe etsy. ebay is more commercial for cabs. (less so for rough/slabs) the main reason you see a lot of some rock on ebay as cabs is because so much is being mined and being shipped overseas. i don't think you can really value collector-jasper cabs on ebay.

I agree. Things have changed. Before I started cabbing my wife collected cabs and there were maybe 10 sellers my wife bought from. I wasn't trying to value cabs on ebay more to get any idea of what was selling there.
I searched etsy on blue mountain cabs and wasn't impressed and I wasn't able to search on sold items. I have around 2000 cabs that I have cut and maybe 25% are attractive and salable at a price I would consider selling for. I'm not looking to generate additional income, but to get some money to continue to support my hobby. I have a lot of material to continue to cut attractive cabs, but am looking for more and also to replace wheels and blades.

I would consider one of the facebook groups, like lapidary marketplace. You can put up a bunch of photos, let people "speak" for them by making a comment, then send them a pp invoice. I have bought rough from Tony this way, and also a few cabs form some other people. You avoid all seller fees and still have some assistance with payment processing from PayPal.

FB has been recommended to me also, but I would rather eat hot nails. I loath FB. Just my opinion and I know I am in the minority. However, I had pretty good luck on etsy. People looking for quality handmade artisan cabs versus sweatshop cabs are willing to pay for them. In fact, I am in the process of slowly raising prices and it hasn't hurt sales.
