Very pretty! The psaronius fernwood looks very similar to dino bone.

Thank You ! Fossilman Gingerkid - yes it does have a very similar pattern if crosscut . cut lengthwise it is a grain pattern.

That is wonderful stuff. Can I assume that the "river" is the Mississippi or is that way too much silt to expose rocks like that? Tom

Peruano - Saltfork river . it is more about the water level here. the river is pretty clean, rocky, sandy, some silt . the wood has eroded from sandstone formations .

that slab might be too cool to cut up and cab. I would probably shelf that one on an easel. nice haul.

I was thinking how great getting a load of gravel would be when I was at the river the other day. Thanks for the inspiration!

that was a treat! how beautiful it is cut, too. It would be such a quandary to me to make a choice to cut a nice piece like that or not, but now I can see it is worth it! Really interesting stuff. Is the picture eye a metallic ore, or what is its composition? fascinating! thanks for posting!

Oh WOW! You did really good!!!! I will be keeping my eyes open for some of the slabs of that psaronius! Those mussel shells are pretty darn cool too!! Looking forward to seeing what the corals look like cut & some slices of the picture stone! Sure wish I could find neat stuff like that down here!
